Hyperstone today announced, that in conjunction with Smart Network Devices, who have been working with Hyperstone since 1999, the availability of the dedicated Operating System HyNetOS v3.0 to hyNet® customers Royalty Free.

Smart Network Devices small memory footprint Realtime Operating Systems are particularly well suited for embedded devices with communication and network requirements.

The core Operating System which includes the ability to initialise customers’ embedded electronic systems by booting over the Ethernet includes a multi tasking Real-Time Kernel, a Protocol Manager including standard TCP sockets, applicable device drivers, as well as many other features. JPEG compression and decompression is also part of the core functionality. Modular elements such as HTTP client or server for Web based applications, FTP client or server for file transfer, PPP client or server for modem dial-up/dial-in and a file system including support for memory cards can then be added to the core at no further software cost.

Having a multitude of modular elements that can be added to the already small memory footprint Operating System allows the customer to keep their system software small, and therefore assists the customer in gaining competitive advantage through minimising his hardware expenditure on external memory.

The Operating System HyNetOS v3.0 will be available via the Smart Network Devices website (www.smartnd.com). Customers will be able to obtain a development license free of charge simply by registering at the Smart Network Devices website at no cost. When ready to start production, customers may obtain the production license for a flat rate from SND. Support packages are available also to assist in reducing that all important time to market.

A full listing of features of HyNetOS v3.0 is available at Smart Network Devices website (www.smartnd.com).
