The use of memory devices other than disks and tapes as storage devices can be traced back 40 years ago. For example, RAM and ROM were used to store data and program codes in the 1960s. Flash memory has significantly replaced various historic storage media. As examples, some 5 years back people still used film in non-digital cameras, computers were offering floppy disk drives, mobile CD players played your favorite tunes, and mobile phones were incapable of taking pictures, browsing the web or synchronizing with a PC.

Hyperstone GmbH, member of the CML Microsystems Plc group, has entered into an exclusive agreement with Global Digital Technologies S.A. regarding GDT's video encoder IP cores conforming to ISO/IEC 14496-10 (ITU-T H.264 or MPEG-4 Part10 /AVC) video coding standard.  As a continuance to a long standing collaboration between the companies, Hyperstone has acquired a multi-project license of GDT’s H.264 EBH silicon IP core.

This paper shows how C models can be easily integrated to HDL simulation using SystemVerilog DPI (Direct Programming Interface) and ModelSim, to provide a reliable and cost effective solution for accelerated verification.

First compact network camera with PoE option
An ultra compact network camera with a Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) Interface will be presented by Smart Network Devices (SND) at the Embedded World exhibition, Nuremberg, February 2007 in Hall 11, Stand 203. If PoE-capable hubs and switches are being used in the network infrastructure the power supply of the network camera can now be ensured over the Ethernet network cable. This means significant savings on installation cost. Alternatively, a separate power supply can be used.
